What are Red Beans?

In shape, red beans are very similar to red kidney beans, they, however, differ in size. The red beans are smaller than the red kidney beans.

Due to the shape and color of red beans and kidney beans, many people often consider them to be the same. No, they are not the same. They are different beans.

Red beans have a brighter shade of red than kidney beans, and the taste has more of a ‘bean’ taste. They also have an oblong shape, which gives them more of the traditional shape of beans.

Cooking Red Beans in Instant Pot is Cheap and Fast to Cook

The swiftness in cooking this dish is one thing I love about it. Whenever I start cooking, I pick up my phone to surf the internet for a few minutes before my food is ready.

You get to eat your meal in little or no time. In a little over 40 minutes, you are ready to eat your red beans. Isn’t that awesome?

Meanwhile, cooking red beans in a pressure cooker is not only fast to cook, but it is also very cheap to cook. You don’t have to walk down to the store to get canned beans, which are rather less healthy than instant pot red beans.

Soaked or Un-Soaked Red Beans in Instant Pot?

There have always been different opinions on whether beans should be soaked or not before cooking. As for me, since I discovered the use of instant pots, I don’t soak anymore.

With an instant pot, you can save a whole lot of time cooking beans without having to soak them. Unlike how it is cooked on a stovetop.

For this particular recipe, I didn’t soak the beans, and the cooking period is only 40 minutes. So, you don’t have to soak, and if you consider soaking yours, then the cooking period should be lesser depending on how long you soak.

Dry Beans Vs Cooked Beans: Which should I go for in a Pressure Cooker?

Another thing I have mentioned briefly earlier is that with I prefer to cook dry beans than buy canned beans. When it comes to which is healthier dry beans come on top.

As a result of this, I would rather go for dry beans, and cook in my instant pot. It is easy to do.
